Losing weight was a constant battle, i found myself at my heaviest and least happy after my last dieting attempt. I knew i had change something and that’s when i found CMP!
Hi Josie, Would you like to introduce yourself?
Hi, i’m Josie, a busy working Mum of two from Sheffield.
Why did you reach out to work with CMP, what were your initial goals?
When i reached out to CMP, I was probably at my lowest and my body confidence was lost. I felt all of those cliches, like I was trying really hard and making no progress, doing everything right (probably for a day) but constantly gaining weight.
My goal was to lose weight and for the first time in my life be a healthy BMI.
I wanted to break my family history (3 generations deep) of yo-yo dieting and provide my children a different start in life and be the example they need. Since having had my second child in the pandemic my weight had spiralled and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it under control.
I didn't want to live my life losing and gaining weight anymore, I want to break the cycle and change my future. And upto that point general dieting, going to gyms and following online plans were not providing to be the answer.
What were the motivating factors in wanting to achieve these goals?
My motivating factors were first and foremost setting a healthy example for my kids. I was also fed up with hating myself and how low my confidence was. My Mum has a terminal illness and I have always wanted to live my life to the fullest because I have seen how quickly that can change, for me being able to achieve fitness goals was a part of this and I absolutely wasn't doing that.
Can you tell us about the results that you’ve achieved with us?
With CMP I have lost more weight than I could have ever achieved on my own, 66lbs so far, which is crazy to me given i was stuck for so long!
I am also stronger than I ever expected and lifting weights, which was something i’d always been very unsure of when joining a gym.
My diet is better balanced (by no means perfect) and I have a better understanding about where I was going wrong and how to correct it.
I have more energy and feel like I have more balance in all areas of my life, I am more active which in turn means I am sleeping better.
I have also learnt that sometimes not all the stars align and when they don't you don't have to fall off the wagon and lose all your progress, that feels like a revelation to me and my whole headspace around weight loss has changed entirely.
My goal has changed slightly, I am now less focussed on a healthy BMI but focussed on the way I want my body to look, I want to be strong and healthy but feel a bit freer that this isn't ultimately linked to the scales.
what impact have your results had on your day to day life?
The obvious differences are being able to wear smaller clothes, I recently got back into my wedding dress for the first time in about 6 years. However, I think for me the best bit and the bit my close friends and family will have noticed is my increased confidence. On my initial call with Chris he said I would be able to walk into the weights area of the gym with confidence, which I scoffed at - but every week I do this. By no means am I an entirely different person, I sometimes still struggle to motivate myself into going to the gym, but having 2 PT sessions a week focuses me and gets me moving when I definitely don't want to, by the time I have done those its only 2 more and I have achieved my goal that week.
Aside from the obvious knowledge in the gym, I now have significantly more balanced nutrition. This isn't nearly as dull as it sounds and the CMP team have supported me over the last year through ups and downs so I havent lost progress but have continued to lose weight in a steady way.
I also love their focus on small achievable goals. So instead of feeling overwhelmed by the mountain I have to climb, I achieve small manageable goals, this makes it all feel possible when before it didn't.
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining cmp?
If you are ready to commit, the team will get you to your goals - this I am 100% confident in.
For me they have made the impossible suddenly possible and I have achieved more than I ever thought I could, and am not at the finish line yet.
The team at CMP have so much knowledge and with each session I learn something new.
But the whole environment and ethos of the gym itself is a special place, not only the trainers but the clients as well.
Whilst each person's goal might be different I have always felt we really are in this together and we celebrate the wins together.
